ROYAL ENGINEERS’ DEPOT SALE ENABLES REGENERATION OF HISTORIC SITE
The Crown Estate and Defence Estates, advised by Chesterton Humberts, has sold the freehold interest in part of the Royal Clarence Yard, Weevil Lane, Gosport, Hampshire to a local property developer.
The 0.43 acre (0.174 hectare) site, a former Royal Engineers depot, currently houses a two-storey residential building and two single-storey workshops that have been vacant for a number of years. The purchaser plans to redevelop the site for residential and commercial use.
Craig Powell of Chesterton Humberts comments: “The former depot is located adjacent to the site currently being developed by Berkeley Homes as a major mixed-use development which is transforming the area. The sale of this site to a local developer will continue the regeneration of this historic former dockyard for occupation by local residents.”
