PETERBOROUGH GARDEN PARK OPENS WITH 85% OF RETAIL UNITS PRE-LET

10 February 2010

Garden Park Investments’ £25million Peterborough Garden Park has opened to the public (5th February 2010) with 85% of the scheme’s retail accommodation pre-let, bucking the recession and the downturn in the retail property market.

The 15-acre park is anchored by high quality garden centre operator, Van Hage, who is intent on making it Britain’s premier garden centre with their 50,000 sq ft, state of the art garden centre with 80,000 sq ft external sales area.

Sitting alongside Van Hage’s stunning “Crystal Palace” style building is an additional 42,000 sq ft of purpose-built retail units where Cotswold, Cotton Traders, Hobbycraft, Maidenhead Aquatics, Pets Corner, Le Creuset, Hawkins Bazaar, Past Times, PBC Books, Andronicas World of Coffee have all taken space. There is strong interest in the last few units.

Edward Olley of Garden Park Investments says: “This will be the new retail destination in the Peterborough area. The quality of the Van Hage offer together with the other complementary retailers, events zones, great cafes and restaurants will make this a unique retail destination for the whole family. Despite difficult economic conditions the scheme has attracted excellent retailers, who have all committed ahead of opening, confirming strong confidence in both the concept and the regional retail market.”

Cushman & Wakefield is the letting agent for the scheme.
